After spending the best part of 10 years in the general banking industry in the Gauteng, Peter returned to the Western Cape where he spent a number of years restructuring companies and assisted SA Breweries Group in their takeover of Appletizer in Elgin. Peter became part of Mr Graham Beck’s management team that managed the process of buying Garlick Consolidated Limited and Garlick Stores Ltd and taking them private. Peter personally sold one of the listed companies for R25million. Thereafter he spent 4 years returning the businesses to profitability and selling off the components and leases. Peter joined KPMG in 1992 and spent 9 years latterly as a Director of Corporate finance, transacting deals and fixes in South Africa, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom. He parted ways with KPMG in 2002, setting up his own private Corporate Finance practice, specializing in the valuation recovery and acquisition of companies.

David qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 with 5 years of articles at Epstein Bloch (now Kessel Feinstein). He went into private practice in Cape Town for 4 years, while also providing student tutoring and external examining services for various degree courses for the Department of Commerce at the University of Cape Town. This was followed by 20 years in business (1980 – 2000), as founder, owner and Managing Director of CMG. CMG developed a range of commercial and payroll software applications, with offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg. These systems were supplied and installed in approximately 2100 companies across South Africa and neighbouring countries. System implementation often required the integration of the customer’s management information, CRM, accounting, financial, payroll and HR systems, providing wide exposure to a diverse range of businesses. Since 2000 David has been involved in independent business consultancy and turnarounds, as well as forensic accounting and auditing in commercial, arbitration and family law litigation matters

Business Rescue:Karoo Water

which was a typical example of a business rescue. Hans Klopper said that there was considerable interest from the industry and the liquidators managed to secure the possible offer of R2,3m, including stock. This was an example of a successful business rescue. Karoo had unsubordinated debts of about R9m so the proceeds from the sale will help to pay creditors.
